NeuroNation is a free app that furnishes a collection of brain training exercises aimed not just to test the limits of your mental abilities, but also to improve on those areas where you are least capable.

This mobile device application presents brain games that pose as training exercises based on the app’s evaluation of your mental skills. The aspects of concern are your Memory, Numeracy, Perception, and Reasoning prowess. The ultimate goal is to help you, the app user, improve on your ability to recall important things, process new information, take rapid but accurate actions, as well as perform mathematical calculations mentally.

The brain game challenges are customized based on the NeuroNation system of evaluating memory skills, ability to stay focused, and logical reasoning. The resulting scores accordingly provide the app with scientific basis, on what to recommend as your training goal.

This NeuroNation brain-training tool is available at the Google Play Store as a free to download app to users of mobile devices supported by Android OS versions 2.3 and up.

NeuroNation App Features

App users can proceed as an unidentified user or as a registered NeuroNation member. Either way, the device saves and tracks any progress made, including the challenges completed and the training level attained.

NeuroNation brain training works on a leveling up system. Those new to the NeuroNation brain training exercises start as Novice Level 1 player. In order to level up, a player must pass the Goal Challenges and earn Experience Points (XPs). Doing so elevates them to the Amateur Level (2), to Pupil Level (3), the Top of the Class Level (4), the Star Pupil Level (5), The Prodigy Level (6) and so forth.

Goal Challenges include achieving a specific number of Score Points and Correct Answers, and limiting number of Errors committed within the maximum required for that Level Challenge. Failure to do so, will keep the set of next training exercises locked, indicating you still need to improve your mental skills.

NeuroNation Games Overview 

This free NeuroNation app contains 24 free brain-training exercises. Initially though, most of those games are still inaccessible, since users have to complete the training by passing Goal Challenges in each level. Still, new app users will have instant access to the following brain training exercises once the app has been installed.

Path Finder/Reverse Path finder is a Memory Exercise, requiring players to re-trace a certain path from memory.

Chain Reaction is a Numeracy Exercise requiring app users to perform different mathematical operations continuously. Starting with the answer to a single mathematical equation, the training exercise continuously supply a number to add, to subtract, or with which to multiply or divide the most recent answer.

Trail Tracker and the Rotator Games are Reasoning Exercises that require players to determine the spot where a marker will land by following arrow directions. The Rotator Game makes use of tetris-shaped blocks to match, with the added difficulty of selecting the match from rotating tetris symbols.

Color Craze, a Perception Exercise in which one must select an object that matches what the prompt requires. In alternate and random occurrences, some prompts ask the app user to select an object according to the meaning of a given word; while some, requires choosing an object based on the color of the text used by the prompt. A player must choose quickly because this exercise is performed under time constraint.

Amazon Mobile features many of the great features of Amazon on its main website. It lets you navigate through its vast library of items according to your preference. It also features the options of buying items, such as the 1-Click option and the cart options. You can also purchase directly from the app and it’s all updated to Amazon’s servers. It also features the option to scan items on the go to make comparisons. You can also search details on products so you can make a better purchase. You can also call the Amazon Customer Service to help you out when problems arise.

Amazon Mobile is surprisingly easy to use. It takes many of the daunting features of Amazon and makes it easy for you to navigate with ease. The option to take photos and scan barcodes for comparison is one of its great features. There are also some good surprises from it, such as Gold Deals and free gifts. All in all, Amazon Mobile gets a rating of 5 out of 5. 

Google Earth features tons of features that makes your finger-swiping journey through Earth easy and convenient. It features the same imagery from the desktop version so if you saw your friend’s house in the computer, you’re bound to see it in your iPad. It also features the search button, where you can find the exact location of wherever you want to go. It also features photos of key locations, it features articles related to some places and more. It has exclusive features such as swiping with fingers and zooming in with fingers. You can also zoom in on geographical areas, up to the point on seeing mountains.

Google Earth is surprisingly easy to use. The desktop version is a bit daunting to use because of the many options available to you at the start but with the Google Earth app, you’re given the essentials so it’s easy to use right at the get-go. Because of the ease of use and the fact you can get started right away with using it to locate the place you want, I rate this app 5 out of 5.

Words with Friends HD features the same, charming and familiar gameplay of Scrabble and other word games that you adore and dig but now it’s transitioned into a digital format that makes it easy for playing. The game is designed to let you play up to 20 games at the same time so while your one group is still going on with the words, you can play with your other group who’s frantically making words at a fast pace. You can connect with people on Facebook and even stay in touch with the game’s messaging so if you want to give hints or tease, you have the options. You can fight anyone randomly or by invite. The game also features slick board designs that are visually appealing.

Words with Friends HD is very easy to use. It might look daunting but once you get the hang of it, you’ll have a blast matches with friends. I rate the app 4 out of 5 because while the game is near-perfect in every way, the game has ads and delays which I feel hamper the experience. But other than that, Words with Friends plays nicely and is a perfect multiplayer game.

Do A Barrel Roll

One of the latest Easter Eggs was “Do a Barrel Roll”. This Easter Egg spread across the internet like wildfire with millions of people doing it. In order to have fun with this Easter egg, users will only need to type the command that triggers the Easter egg, “do a barrel roll air” in the search box. Once they do that, the entire window of the browser will do exactly that, it will roll around 360 degrees, then shows the search results.

Angry Birds Rio HD features the same gameplay which is based on actual physics (sometimes) from the original Angry Birds but now is set in Rio de Janeiro. Instead of smashing pigs down, you have to free the captured birds in each level. Though the goal is different, the gameplay remains the same but it still has the same charming and fun gameplay. Besides the new setting, it also has new features such as Beach Ball levels and epic levels that involve a plane.

Angry Birds Rio HD is very easy to use. If you played the original Angry Birds, you won’t have a hard time with Angry Birds Rio HD. It’s a matter of slinging the birds at the right time to free the birds. Even in the hardest levels, you’ll still find it easy to use. I rate the app 4 out of 5 because Angry Birds Rio HD is in its initial release, it  has only 12 levels which makes it a bit short. But the company promises more updates to give you more levels so all in all, Angry Birds Rio HD is a great game.  A keyword search for Angry Birds will now reveal over five different Angry Birds Games.

Pandora Radio features over thousands of radio stations that feature the same kind of music you write down when Pandora asks you what your favorite music is. Whether it’s the Matchbook Romance, the Smashing Pumpkins or Adele, Pandora Radio finds the music that matches your tastes. You can bookmark the stations that you like, you can thumbs up or down music track and you can add new stations to your list. You can also buy the music yourself if you love it so much. Pandora Radio also links to Pandora One, where you can use Pandora Radio with no ads.

Pandora Radio is very easy to use. You won’t have a problem with the app. The app is well-designed so you can navigate to your bookmarks, search for a new artist and band and search for a new station. I rate the app 4 out of 5 because the app has ads all over and sometimes, I get a bit interrupted with them. But the app still works just fine. As some reviewers say, it’s free music. So go find a nice place to relax, chill and listen to the sounds that you like.

Calculator Pro for iPad features two modes: basic mode and advanced mode. Basic mode lets you do the basics of basic while Advanced mode goes into Landscape and lets you try out the advanced calculations like sin, cos and tangent. It also features the functions of scientific calculators such as Radian calculations and memory buttons to organize complex formulas. It has touchscreen controls where you can swipe off the wrong number or edit the numbers you put in. You can also change the look of your calculator, so you can make manly, girly or neutral.

Calculator Pro for iPad is very easy to use. You’ll be able to master the calculator in no time and the features are really good. Unlike other calculator apps, Calculator Pro for iPad works better because it has less bugs and errors so you won’t have to worry about glitches. Thanks to its availability on the iPad, the Calculator Pro buttons are big enough to press on and the finger controls to make edits. Because of the ease of use and the minimal bugs and glitches, I rate this app 5 out of 5. 

The app provides a realistic gun firing for each type of gun that is available. Slow down the motion to see the recoil and firing power. Also included in the app is the history and specifications of each type of gun.

There has already been over thirty different updates and the developer continues to update the app. Some of the guns currently available include the Browning machine gun, Desert Eagle, AK-47 and a variety of automatic shotguns.  The cost is 99 cents, and is a reasonable price for the information contained inside of the app. The graphics are great and the digital replications appear realistic.

As an entertainment app it allows users to share the humorous photos with friends via email, text messages, facebook and twitter. It works with both previously taken photos, or allows the user to take a photo while inside the app. The finished pictures can be saved into the photo library.

The app doesn’t need an internet connection to transform the pictures, and the before and after can be easily seen with a simple shake. The app is currently .99 and incredibly entertaining.

FatBooth is a fun little app that you can keep on your phone to entertain the kids or your friends.  It can be a funny diversion and even interesting to see what you or your friends may look like with a few additional pounds.

Another great feature of the app is the ability to create blacklist of unwanted calls. Phone numbers placed on this list will be redirected to a recording stating the number has been disconnected. Other features include caller ID with a name and address as well as missed call alerts.

One of the other great features is voicemail transcriptions. Voicemails are made into text through email or text messages. While the download of the app is free, there is a required subscription price to activate the features. There are three different plans available starting at 4.95 a month.
